Meet the Artists

IGOR BUDINSTEIN

VIOLIN SOLO

A distinguished violinist, violist, and conductor, Igor Budinstein was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, where he worked with great maestros such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Muti. A graduate of the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, he has conducted leading orchestras including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Düsseldorfer and Hamburger Symphoniker, and internationally the Suwon Philharmonic (Korea), Victoria Symphony (Canada), and Shenzhen Symphony (China). He has also served as assistant to Kent Nagano and Andrey Boreyko and collaborated with artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Garrick Ohlsson, Ning Feng, and Piotr Plawner. As a violist, he studied in Moscow, Berlin, and Lübeck, and currently serves as Principal Viola of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, in addition to guest appearances with the State Operas of Munich, Hamburg, and Dresden.

ANNA KATHARINA BORSCH

SOPRANO

She is an internationally acclaimed soprano known for her radiant timbre, artistic depth, and emotional authenticity. Trained as a violinist and organist, she studied voice with Ruth Grünhagen in Düsseldorf and earned her Master of Music with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under Prof. Mechthild Georg. She is a multiple first prize winner at renowned international competitions, which led to performances in prestigious venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. A scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung Köln and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, she has collaborated with leading ensembles including the Rhenish Oratorio Orchestra, the ABO Orchestra Berlin, and the Vienna City Orchestra. Among her recent highlights are her acclaimed interpretation of Verdi’s Requiem at the RBB Broadcasting Hall Berlin and her celebrated portrayal of Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La Traviata, a role she will reprise in summer 2026 in Hamburg. With her expressive artistry and profound musicality, Anna Katharina Borsch captivates audiences across Europe in both concert halls and opera houses.

VLADIMIR MAGALASHVILI

ORGAN

Vladimir Magalashvili first studied chemistry and worked in research at the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry in Moscow before turning to music. He began his professional organ and piano studies at the Academic Music College of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Prof. Galina Semenova. He later earned a Master’s degree in Organ Performance at the University of the Arts Berlin, studying with Prof. Leo van Doeselaar, Erwin Wiersinga, and Paolo Crivellaro, and simultaneously graduated with honors from the N.G. Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory under Prof. Rubin Abdullin. He has performed worldwide in solo recitals and ensemble concerts, collaborating with renowned ensembles such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, and conductors including Jonathan Nott, Ben Palmer, Sergey Neller, and Teodor Currentzis. In 2018 he received 2nd Prize at the Neubrandenburg Organ Competition. Vladimir is organist of the Babylon Orchestra in Berlin and guest organist of the sirventes berlin Ensemble, performing regularly at NoonSong in the Church at Hohenzollernplatz. A specialist in the music of Marcel Dupré, he frequently includes Dupré’s works in his concerts. His thesis focused on the interpretation of Dupré’s organ music. Vladimir actively promotes the expansion of organ repertoire, collaborating with contemporary composers and premiering new works for organ and orchestra. In 2022, he founded the innovative Organ.Light.Percussion.Electronics project, combining classical organ performance with modern sound design.
